The art of karate is accessible for people of all ages. At KKI we would personally like to extend a welcome to you to join our club. Regardless of your experience, age, gender, background, or current physical skill, we strongly believe anyone can begin their Kyokushin karate journey and find a great deal in it for themselves - be it physical, spiritual, emotional – or a combination of all three!
Through your Kyokushin training you will start to realise that there is much more to the art than physical conditioning, kata, and advanced self-defence; it is a way of life. If you speak to any member of our club, you will find that each has received something unique, personal & different in pursuit of their training. Kyokushin karate is something that can be enjoyed by any and everyone.
On this website you will find information on training at any of the Field Dojo’s Australia wide, as well as information on Kyokushin Karate in general. This website is intended for the current and future students of Kyokushin Karate, and it is hoped that it can in some way assist you to begin or continue your journey.
As Shihan Fields himself says, “We owe it to the memory of Sosai Mas Oyama to teach Kyokushin in the same spirit and ideals as he once taught it.”

At KKI dojo’s we maintain a very high standard of training with a multitude of different classes per week. All class formats focus on teaching true traditional Kyokushin karate training the way Sosai Mas Oyama intended whilst integrating modern sport science techniques thus giving a complete health and fitness way of life. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or senior student, all areas of Kyokushin karate are catered for.
General and Advanced karate classes
From our general classes you will have a complete understanding of Kyokushin karate and throughout the duration of training three main elements are covered: (1) technique, (2) forms, and (3) sparring. These are sometimes referred to as the three "K's" the Japanese words for them are: kihon (technique), Kata (forms), and kumite (sparring). Our progressive systems stem from any beginner right through to the advanced black belt student. This makes all of our dojo doors open to everyone, regardless of their level of experience.
During training we thoroughly cover detailed aspects of authentic Kyokushin karate methodology and this continues through to our world-wide reputation for being the strongest karate, which you will become a part of, learning aspects of Full Contact fight principles, sparring and Goshin jitsu (self-defence).
Where some karate clubs have been wary of advances in sports science, along with the skills of true budo karate fundamentals, Kyokushin is technically a circular style and through the use of sport specific performance conditioning techniques and combinations we aim to improve ones flexibility, muscular endurance, balance, agility, coordination, power, speed and reaction time. Shihan Fields key foundations of teaching are to move more effectively and more efficiently. Educating all students of correct movement skills or body positioning, foot-ground relationship, balance, angle of force application and other variables that helps move you from point A to point B quicker whilst expending less energy. Striving to produce proficient movement, a strong focus is on error detection and body mechanical corrections so you as a student gain an improved ability to react, respond and move to execute all techniques.
Under direct guidance of Shihan Trevor Field and all our highly qualified instructors, each and every student progresses at their own pace until they have become proficient in all the skills of Kyokushin karate.
Tournament Training
Tournament training is open to all students and is designed to progress individuals through the fundamental aspects of Kyokushin karate using its fighting drills and techniques. Specifically designed for speed, stamina and strength in this class you will find yourself involved in a series of weight training performance drills, stamina based bag sessions, traditional body conditioning and explosive tournament sparring physiology. All of this is designed to help you maintain a consistent high level of intensity for an increased competition fitness and enhanced fighters performance.
